What Sai
Foundation is |
|
The sai Foundation is a non-profit registered organization with a
mission to impact the lives of less privileged children, enabling
them to maximize their potential and change
their lives. sai Foundation works primarily in the field of
education, addressing non formal education through the centre and
also formal education by initiating school reform.

Why & What We Do |

Despite the numerous
promises and provisions made by the Indian government, the state of
many of the country's children continues to be pitiable. Statistics
reveal that there are close to 13 million child laborers, about 3 to
5 lakh children are forcibly engaged in prostitution and at least 18
million children live on the streets in India. Coupled with child
abuse and poverty figures, the picture is far from pretty. A little
help on your part can and will bring these numbers down!

Information, though conservative, shows
that there are 70 million disabled people in India. One in every ten
children or 3% of the country's total child population also falls in this
category. The government itself admits that of the total disabled
population, only 2% are educated and 1% employed. No effort or priority is
being made to give them a better world - a small gift of a hearing aid,
wheelchair or Braille kit will make a difference. |

Though the number of literate
people in India has increased over the years, it still has the
largest number of uneducated children in the world - two-thirds of
whom are girls. Government reports indicate that 59 million children
between 6-14 years do not attend school. Official information
further indicates that just a little over one-third of all children
who enroll in grade one reach grade eight. All this for a country
which has made education for children in the age group 6-14 years a
fundamental right? Your help will go a long way in providing
educational opportunities for children who would otherwise be left
behind. |

and to take care of the affected persons without getting
discriminated or being ill-treated by the society in general. It's
aim is to popularize the prevention of the disease, promotion of
healthy living and to curtail false notions about the disease at
large.
